The British Newspaper Archive on Facebook and Twitter – and at the Dundee Science Festival

We’ve recently started to offer people a glimpse of what the newspaper archive contains, by uploading some content to our Facebook page at:

As the archive is likely to appeal to a large number of different audiences, we’re striving to choose content that will appeal to these different audiences.

Our Facebook page already includes stories and illustrations on a number of different subjects – ranging from terrific images of the Great Exhibition of 1851 to assassination attempts on Queen Victoria.

We’re also looking to keep people informed about the progress of the project (as well as of upcoming events) via our Twitter page:

Dundee Science Festival – Sunday 6 November, 11.30am to 5pm
The Dundee Science Festival includes a special event on genealogy, where experts from brightsolid online publishing will offer help and advice  to people who are looking to find out more about their family history

Attendees at this event will get the chance to have a sneak preview of the British Newspaper Archive website – www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk.

The event is FREE to attend and runs from 11.30am to 5pm, with hourly talks taking place on the hour between 12 noon and 4pm. You don’t need to book a place, so you can just turn up on the day.

The location for this event is the DC Thomson Building at Meadowside, Albert Square, Dundee (directly opposite the statue of Robert Burns).

We’ll post more information about this event on Tuesday 1 November.
