Mahatma Gandhi – Born on 2 October 1869 (Released from Yeravda Prison in May 1933)

Mahatma Gandhi , the Indian leader who used civil disobedience in his campaign for Indian independence, was born in Porbandar on 2 October 1869.

To commemorate his birthday, we’ve posted a story about Gandhi being released from Yeravda Prison in Poona, in May 1933, following his 21-day fast.

It’s a fascinating story and reveals much about Gandhi and the restless situation in India during the 1930s.
