Virginia Woolf’s suicide note

English writer Virginia Woolf committed suicide on 28 March 1941. She struggled with depression and was deeply affected by the Second World War.

‘I cannot go on’

Woolf left a touching note for her husband, saying ‘I owe all my happiness to you, but cannot go on and spoil your life’.

  • As more and more title are added, the site will become increasingly unusable for long-term subscribers wishing to search afresh for previously searched for names and phrases etc. You will be swamped by old already seen hits. This becomes truly dreadful if searching a relatively common name such as Peter Smith.

It’s so obvious what is required:
    1. “Newly added title” search ability, where the “newness” of the added pages being searched can be varied. It’s a no brainer.
2.More precise ways of narrowing the search. Rather than, let’s say, just being able to narrow it to papers from the South-East, why not allow the customer to “cherry-pick” titles from within that range of papers. The subscriber may wish to really only want to look at papers in a c.50 mile radius of Dover, for example. Currently the only way to do this is to laboriously term-search one title at a time. It’s a no brainer.

I intend to go on and on about this on all the BNA blogs – that’s how awful it is becoming.
