It’s ‘unacknowledged legislators of the world’ day today!
So, to celebrate National Poetry Day, we’ve posted below a very interesting newspaper article that offers a reading of the complicated character of John Keats.
As the theme of National Poetry Day this year is ‘stars’, we’ve also posted that Keats’ sonnet of rare beauty, ‘Bright Star’.
The Archive also contains 100s of letters written by famous writers and poets, and we stumbled upon an excellent letter (written in 1877) from Victor Hugo to Lord Tennyson – which we’ve also posted below.
Truly, the Archive contains many literary treasures, just waiting to be discovered. So if you find a story or letter about a famous poet that would be of interest to a wider audience, then we’d love to hear about it! Please just give us a shout on Twitter or Facebook.

If you visit our Facebook page, you can also read a beautiful love letter written by John Keats to Fanny Brawne.
And if your Latin is up to it, why not try reading some Robert Burns in Latin?
