George Mortimer Pullman, the ‘Palace Car King’, died in Chicago on 19 October 1897 – he was 66.
We’re always interested in stories about people who have things named after them, so here is a contemporary newspaper obituary that celebrates the life and achievements of George Pullman, and also a splendid illustration from 1879 of the palatial interior of a Pullman dining car on the Great Northern Railway.
