Hot off the press – new titles added this week

The British Newspaper Archive

It’s a new year at The Archive and we’re excited to be back and bringing you ever more pages and titles. We are looking forward to a year of hearing your stories, and sharing interesting finds from The Archive. These past few weeks we have published 344,442 pages, and added ten brand new titles to The Archive. Joining The Archive are papers for the cities and towns of Bristol, London, Dublin, Leamington Spa, Leicester, Staines, Northampton, Reading and Tenbury Wells.

Hot off the press – pages added this week

We’re finishing the year with a bang, this week we reached twenty-three million pages in The Archive, having added 285,684 pages in the past two weeks. This week we’ve added more pages to our Trinity Mirror collection, with significant additions to The Coventry Evening Telegraph and The Coventry Herald.   We hope sports fans will enjoy our additions to Sports Argus which now runs to 1979 and includes coverage of the 1966 FIFA World Cup Final. Hot off the press – new titles added this week

We’re happy to bring you word of the latest additions to The British Newspaper Archive. Three new titles have joined the site along with updates to ten existing titles. Our new titles are from Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, Scotland; Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England; and Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England: Jedburgh Gazette, Wisbech Standard, and Hunts Post, respectively. Hot off the press – new titles added this week

We’ve been kept very busy at The Archive in recent weeks setting up our project with Trinity Mirror to publish their archive.  We’ve also been delving into the holdings of the British Library and added 108,830 pages to the collection.  We are introducing six brand new titles to The Archive, and have added more years to a Trinity Mirror title, the Coventry Evening Telegraph, or the Midland Daily Telegraph as it was known between 1891 and 1941. Publishing the Trinity Mirror Archive

This week we are pleased to announce a major development in our ongoing partnership with Trinity Mirror.  Over the next two years, we will publish upwards of 12 million pages from the Trinity Mirror archive. We have already started work on this exciting project and you can now read the Birmingham Daily Gazette to 1956, The Birmingham Post to 1972, and the Daily Herald to 1961. Digitisation is well underway at our studio in Boston Spa, with up to 100,000

Hot off the press – new titles added this week

The British Newspaper Archive

This past week we added 121,544 pages to the Archive.  We have 4 brand new titles, and added new years to twenty-seven existing titles.  Our new titles are for Lincolnshire, Somerset and Herefordshire in England, and Rhyl in Wales. The Bridgwater Mercury, also known as The West Counties Herald was published in Somerset, England.  The Ross Gazette was published in Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire, and we have years ranging from the late 1860s to the early twentieth century.  County borders in

Hot off the press – new titles added this week

The British Newspaper Archive

This week we added 147,031 pages to The Archive.  We added two brand new titles this week, one for Hampshire and one for Durham.  We also added to ten existing titles. Both of the new titles joining The Archive this week are still published today.  The Darlington & Stockton Times, Ripon & Richmond Chronicle is celebrating 170 years this month; once digitistation is complete, we will have a run from the first edition on 2 October 1847 to 1911.   The Hants

We had a bumper week at the Archive this past week, we added 205,942 pages and are now just 200,000 pages from twenty-two million pages in the Archive.  We have three brand new titles joining the Archive this week.  One each for England, Scotland and Wales. We have also updated fourteen existing titles.
