The Zeppelin Raid on England and the Heroism of Leefe Robinson – 3 September 1916

On 3 September 1916, 13 zeppelin airships attacked targets in south-east England.

One of the airships was shot down near London by Lieutenant Leefe Robinson, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery.

Here is a newspaper story reporting on the award of the VC to Leefe Robinson, and also a photo of the ‘hero of the hour’.
